Hair Tinsel can be tied into hair or glued into place, giving you a wide variation in the amount of time you wish to keep your Hair Tinsel in place. Tinsel isn’t only for your Christmas tree. A salon in north Raleigh is offering hair tinsel to help give your holiday hair a little sparkle. The color experts at DS Parada, 6520 Falls of Neuse Road, have hair tinsel in a variety of colors, including blue, red, silver, gold and purple. Strands are $5 and are long enough to go on both sides of your head.

The tinsel can be curled, flat ironed, washed and should stay in for at least two weeks, salon owner Don Stacy said. (I got a few for the WRAL Holiday party over the weekend, and they are still in.)

It takes about 10 minutes to put the tinsel in – stylists tie it in at the root of the hair. I call it a “tinsel weave.”
